Who we are Meet the makers

Our Story

Creative DeZigns began in 1986, founded by my late mum after raising her family in Johannesburg and returning to the UK. Inspired by the creativity and spirit of South Africa, she recognised a need for unique, affordable accessories that felt personal and different from the mass-produced options on the high street - and offered UK women a way to express themselves with confidence and individuality. Having worked closely with her on this passion-fuelled journey, I stepped into the lead nearly two decades ago, continuing her vision, with a focus on small-batch production, ethical fashion and a deep respect for South African craftsmanship. Today, I work directly with skilled artisans in Cape Town and Nepal to create stylish, easy-to-wear clothing and jewellery designed for real women and real lives. These are feel-good pieces - thoughtfully made, ethically sourced, and full of the laid-back, sun-soaked spirit of South Africa.

Tintsaba

Tintsaba: Empowering Women Through Fine Sisal Weaving

Founded in 1985 by Sheila Freemantle, Tintsaba has become a leading name in sustainable sisal basketry and handcrafted jewellery from Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). What began with 12 women in rural communities has grown into a network of over 1,000 artisans, including 20 Master Weavers and 26 women’s groups.

With a commitment to ethical production, Tintsaba offers ongoing training in leadership, skills development, environmental awareness, and women’s health, creating opportunities for independence and personal growth. Their award-winning designs are recognised for exceptional craftsmanship, timeless design, and positive social impact.
