The Benefits of Organic Cotton in Our Knitwear

The Benefits of Organic Cotton in Our Knitwear

When we first began developing our knitwear, we kept hearing the same thing from customers: “I love wearing a jumper, but I can’t wear wool.”  Some found it itchy against their skin.  Others wanted a knit they could wear and care for more easily. Those conversations helped shape our organic cotton knitwear collection.

What does organic cotton mean?

Farmers grow organic cotton to certified organic standards. These standards prohibit genetically modified cotton and restrict the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilisers. Organic farmers also care for through practices such as crop rotation.

We choose organic cotton because we want to consider how the fibre grows and how the finished knit feels. It gives us a natural starting point for the soft, relaxed designs we develop with our knitters in Nepal.

Our knitters use yarns for our collection that are GOTS-certified organic cotton. GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard. It’s independent checks give us a recognised standard for the yarn we choose.

A welcome alternative to wool

You don’t have to be allergic to wool to find it uncomfortable. That can turn a beautiful jumper into one they rarely wear.  We wanted to offer a wool-free choice without giving up the texture and pleasure of wearing knitwear.

Cotton gives our knits a different feel. It is soft against the skin and easy to layer, whether you’re wearing a jumper over a shirt on a cool day or slipping one on when the temperature drops in the evening. It also suits the relaxed silhouettes and natural colours we love.

Cotton knitwear for changing temperatures

If you experience hot flushes during perimenopause or menopause, getting dressed can mean planning for a change in temperature at any moment. A cotton knit gives you a soft, wool-free layer that you can take off when you feel warm and put back on when you need it. Our relaxed shapes make layering easy, while different knit weights give you a choice for warmer and cooler days.

Easy to enjoy, easy to care for

Another reason customers come back to our cotton knits is their everyday practicality. Our organic cotton knitwear is machine washable when you follow the garment care label, something many customers appreciate after years of hand-washing wool jumpers.

Our customers also tell us how well their cotton knits continue to look with regular wear. Cotton is a strong natural fibre and we pay close attention to the quality of the yarn and how each piece is knitted, so these are designs you can enjoy for years. Following the care label helps them keep their shape and appearance.

Cotton is also less appealing to clothes moths than wool, although it is still sensible to put any knitwear away clean. Our high quality cotton will not pill like wool can, but taking good care of your knitwear can make a difference.

Our pieces are made in small batches by skilled makers in Nepal, knitted on hand-operated machines and finished by hand.  We work with our knitters on the weight, shape and details of each design, creating cotton knitwear that feels good to wear and fits easily into everyday life.

Those are the benefits of organic cotton that matter most to us: it answers a real request from our customers, gives us a natural fibre we love working with and helps us make the kind of knitwear we’re proud to share.

How to Layer Clothes for Autumn: Easy Outfit Ideas for Changeable Weather

How to Layer Clothes for Autumn: Easy Outfit Ideas for Changeable Weather

Autumn dressing sounds simple until you actually step outside. A cool start can become a surprisingly warm afternoon, followed by a definite chill as soon as the sun disappears. The answer is not one heavy layer, but several lighter ones that can be added or removed throughout the day.

Learning how to layer clothes for autumn also helps you make more of the pieces already in your wardrobe. A cotton shirt can become a light jacket, a sleeveless knit adds warmth without feeling bulky, and summer trousers can continue well into the new season with the right layers above them.

Here are our favourite ways to create comfortable, easy autumn outfits with natural fibres, relaxed shapes and clothes that work together.

Begin with a light, comfortable base layer

Every good layered outfit starts with the piece sitting closest to your skin. Choose something light enough to wear indoors and comfortable beneath knitwear, without adding unnecessary bulk.

Our Lianna Layering Top was designed especially for this. Its neat stretch body sits smoothly beneath a sweater or knitted vest, while the cotton collar and cuffs give the appearance of a classic white shirt. You get the detail of a shirt beneath your knitwear, without extra fabric bunching around the body and sleeves.

It is particularly useful beneath relaxed and sleeveless knits. Allow the collar and cuffs to show for a little contrast, or leave the hem visible beneath a shorter sweater to create another subtle layer.

Let a cotton shirt do more than one job

A cotton shirt is one of the most useful pieces in a transitional wardrobe. Wear it buttoned on a cooler morning, open over a vest or T-shirt when the temperature rises, and beneath a cardigan or sweater later in the season.

Our white cotton shirts with Liberty fabric detailing bring a little pattern to a layered look without overwhelming it. Worn beneath knitwear, just a glimpse of Liberty print at the collar or turned-back cuff adds interest. On milder days, leave the shirt open as a light top layer and roll back the sleeves to reveal the contrast fabric.

This is an easy way to take a white shirt beyond workwear and make it feel more relaxed with barrel pants, loose trousers or denim.

Try a sleeveless knit over a shirt

Sleeveless knitwear comes into its own during early autumn. It adds warmth through the body while leaving your arms free, making it a practical choice when the weather cannot quite make up its mind.

The Delora sleeveless knit can be worn over the Lianna for a neat layered look, or over one of our cotton shirts for a more relaxed silhouette. Pair it with barrel pants or balloon trousers to balance the slightly more fitted shape of the knit.

When it turns colder, add a lightweight jacket over the top. Keeping the first two layers relatively light means the outfit remains comfortable and easy to move in rather than bulky.

Wear a shirt or overshirt as a light jacket

Before a winter coat is really necessary, an oversized shirt makes a wonderfully useful outer layer. Our Zia Oversized Shirt sits somewhere between a shirt and a jacket, so it can be buttoned up, worn open or slipped over lightweight knitwear.

For an easy autumn outfit, layer the Zia over a simple base and team it with the Jo Denim Barrel Pants. The relaxed shapes work together, while pushing up the sleeves or leaving the shirt open prevents the outfit from feeling too heavy.

As the temperature drops, it can also sit beneath a roomier coat, giving you an extra removable layer without committing to thick winter clothing too soon.

Use organic cotton knitwear as your middle layer

People often associate autumn knitwear with wool, but cotton knitwear is particularly useful for changeable weather. It provides a comfortable layer without feeling overly heavy and can be worn against the skin or over a shirt.

Our GOTS-certified organic cotton knitwear is made in small batches in Nepal and finished by hand. Relaxed necklines, sleeveless shapes and easy cardigans all lend themselves to layering. A cotton cardigan can be worn open during the warmer part of the day, while a boat-neck or V-neck sweater leaves room for a shirt collar or layering top beneath it.

For a simple autumn outfit formula, combine an organic cotton sweater with relaxed trousers, then carry a light jacket or overshirt for later. It is the sort of combination that works for everyday life, weekends away and days when you move between indoors and outside.

Keep a cotton travel wrap close at hand

A cotton travel wrap is one of the easiest layers to carry through autumn. Our Evie Cotton Travel Wrap can be draped around the shoulders when the temperature drops, worn as a generous scarf or folded into a bag when it is no longer needed. It adds warmth without committing to a coat and is particularly useful for days out, journeys and evenings when the air suddenly turns cooler.

Balance the proportions of each layer

Successful layering is not only about warmth; it is also about shape. If you are wearing wide-leg or barrel trousers, try a neater base layer beneath a relaxed knit. If both your shirt and knitwear are oversized, allow one layer to finish at a different length so that the outfit still has definition.

A longer shirt beneath a shorter sweater creates a natural break at the hem. A slim Lianna beneath a fuller knit keeps the body of the outfit smooth. With an oversized shirt or jacket, leaving the front open creates a vertical line and lets the layers underneath remain visible.

There are no rigid rules, but varying the lengths and volumes helps each piece earn its place in the outfit.

Add interest with colour and texture

Layering is also an easy way to introduce colour without changing your whole wardrobe. Begin with familiar neutrals such as navy, natural marl, white, soft sage or mocha, then add a contrasting cuff, scarf, necklace or bracelet.

Tonal dressing works especially well for autumn: mocha with warm taupe, navy with soft grey, or natural marl with olive. Combining different textures in similar colours- a smooth cotton shirt beneath a softly knitted sweater, for example – gives the outfit depth while keeping it easy to wear.

Accessories can provide the finishing touch, particularly when the weather is still too warm for several clothing layers. A lightweight scarf, statement necklace or distinctive bracelet can make a simple shirt-and-trouser combination feel complete.

Build a small autumn layering wardrobe

You do not need an entirely new wardrobe for autumn. A few versatile pieces can create many different combinations:

  • a lightweight base or layering top;
  • a white cotton shirt;
  • a sleeveless knit;
  • a relaxed organic cotton sweater;
  • an oversized shirt or light jacket;
  • comfortable barrel, straight-leg or wide-leg trousers

Choose colours that work across several pieces and you will have the beginnings of a natural-fibre autumn capsule wardrobe. The same shirt can be worn alone, beneath a knit or open as a jacket; the same sleeveless knit can take you from a mild autumn afternoon into much cooler days.

Autumn layering, made simple

The best autumn layers give you options. Start light, add warmth where you need it and choose pieces you can comfortably remove as the day changes. Breathable cotton, easy knitwear and relaxed silhouettes make that much simpler—and help the clothes you already own work harder throughout the season.

At Creative DeZigns, we choose small-batch clothing with this versatility in mind: natural fibres, lasting quality and individual designs that are easy to combine, but never ordinary.

Why Packable Sun Hats Are Perfect for Travel

Why Packable Sun Hats Are Perfect for Travel

Packable travel sun hats make packing feel simpler, especially when you want style, shade and comfort in one easy piece.  Whether you are heading to the coast, walking through a city, or packing for a long-awaited holiday, the right hat should travel with you without becoming a worry.

In this guide, we explain why our sun hats are packable, how each material behaves, and which hat belongs in each category.

What Makes a Hat Packable?

A packable hat handles movement with ease.  It can be folded, rolled, or laid flat without permanent creasing. The structure recovers, the shape holds, and the finish still looks considered.

The secret sits in the material. Each fibre behaves differently. Some are crush-resistant. Others soften and flex whilst others need careful packing to maintain their silhouette.

As a result, this performance is shaped by how each material is constructed.

Here you will find a full breakdown so you can see exactly where each hat fits.

What Are Our Hats Made From?

FLEXIBRAID

Our unique FLEXIBRAID hats are crush-resistant and can be packed flat in your bag.  This travel-ready favourite offers  all-day comfort and maintains its shape even after being packed.  A balance of function and effortless style, this lightweight design with UPF50+ sun protection makes it the ultimate travel hat.

Hats: Pana-Mate, Gerry, Fiona, Serenity, Avoca, Stripe, Kassena, Blayney, Rio, Harper, Harley

POLYESTER KNIT

The tight knit of the polyester thread creates a soft-touch, travel-friendly sun hat that keeps its vibrant colour. These durable hats suit casual everyday wear.  They also include an internal cotton lining for added UV protection and comfort.

Hats: Gilly, Caroline, Breton, Capeline, Lizzie

POLYBRAID

Polybraid hats hold their shape beautifully.  They feel lightweight, so they work well for travel.  In additional, colourful threads create a distinctive pattern, while the tight weave offers sun-smart sun protection and effortless style.

Hats: Bella, Naledi

POLYPROPYLENE

A blend of lightweight threads creates a unique crush-resistant design. Sun-smart UV protection, packable elegance, and everyday versatility all in one stylish hat.

As a result, this blend gives each hat a flexible structure.

Hats: Lionel, Anna

MICROFIBRE & NYLON

These hats work well for adventure and exploration. Tough, water-repellent materials make them quick-drying and practical.  You can fold them or roll them up.  What’s more, these travel-ready suit all seasons, whatever the weather.

wide brimmed holiday hat

NATURAL FIBRE (100% + All Blends)

Reeds and grasses are renewably harvested and dyed before being stitched together to create a lightweight, comfortable sun hat with excellent UV protection.

To keep their shape, pack these hats with soft clothing and accessories around them.  This helps them retain their stylish shape on the go.

Hats: Oscar, Beau, Gillaroo, Gatsby, Carla, Resort

Choosing the Right Packable Hat for You

To begin with, think how you pack.  If you want a hat that lies flat, FEXIBRAID styles make an easy choice.  On the other hand, if you prefer a hat you can roll, MIROFBRE & NYLON styles give you more flexibility.

Then, think about the shape you love.  POLYBRAID or NATURAL FIBRE hats offer more structure.  For this reason, they travel best with softer items around them.

Every option here is designed with movement in mind. Nothing feels rigid. Nothing feels restrictive.

Why Packable Hats Matter

A good hat should not feel like extra luggage. It should slip into your plans and make travel feel easier.

Ultimately, that is why packable travel sun hats matter.  They offer shade, comfort, and style without asking too much from your suitcase.

How To Measure Your Head For A Hat

Finding the right hat fit starts with knowing your head size.  A well-fitting hat should feel easy from the first moment.  It should stay in place without pinching or slipping.  Taking a minute to measure your head properly helps you choose the correct hat size with confidence.

Why Getting the Right Hat Size Matters

A hat should feel natural from the moment you put it on. Too tight, and it becomes uncomfortable. Too loose, and it never quite sits right.

The correct size gives you:

  • Comfort for all-day wear
  • A secure fit, even on breezy days
  • A clean, flattering shape

How to Measure Your Head for a Hat

Measuring your head is quick and straightforward. You only need a soft tape measure or a piece of string.

Step-by-Step Head Measurement Guide

  • Place the tape around your head.
  • Position it about 1 cm above your ears.
  • Bring it across the middle of your forehead.
  • Hold it snug, but not tight.
  • If you are using string, measure the length with a ruler in centimetres. This number is your head measurement.

Finding Your Hat Size

Once you have your measurement, match it to the size guide for your chosen style.

What If You Are Between Sizes?

If your measurement sits between two sizes, choose the larger one.

This gives you:

  • A more comfortable fit
  • Room for adjustment
  • Better wear throughout the day

A slightly looser hat is always easier to adjust than one that feels tight.

Adjusting your Hat for the Perfect Fit

Our hats include subtle way to refine the fit.

Internal Size Adjustment Features

  • A drawstring inside the band
  • A Comfy-Fit Clip elastic

These allow you to adjust the fit by up to 1.5 cm.

You can gently tighten the hat to suit your shape.  The structure stays the same but the fit simply feels more personal.

A Simple Step That Changes Everything

Taking the time to measure your head ensures your hat feels as good as it looks.  It is a small step but it makes wearing your hat effortless, comfortable and natural.  Once you know your measurement, choosing future styles becomes easy every time.

How to build a Travel Wardrobe with Lightweight Knitwear

How to Build a Travel Wardrobe with Lightweight Knitwear

A travel wardrobe lightweight knitwear approach makes packing easier and more practical. The right pieces help you travel with fewer clothes while still feeling comfortable and put together.

Instead of packing many outfits, choose a small number of versatile garments. Look for pieces that layer easily and work across different settings. Most importantly, they should feel comfortable enough for long days exploring.

Lightweight knitwear is ideal for travel because it adapts to changing temperatures. It also folds neatly into a suitcase without taking up much space.

Quick Guide: Building a Travel Wardrobe with Lightweight Knitwear

A travel wardrobe lightweight knitwear approach focuses on a small number of versatile pieces. Choose garments that layer easily and work in different situations.

A simple travel wardrobe could include:

  • breathable organic cotton knitwear for layering
  • a cotton knit sweater vest for warmth without bulk
  • comfortable trousers or a relaxed skirt
  • a lightweight dress that works day or evening
  • a handmade infinity snood for warmth and style
  • simple accessories that transform outfits

Because these pieces mix easily, you can create several outfits from only a few garments.

Start with a Neutral Base

Begin your travel wardrobe with a few neutral pieces. Relaxed trousers, an easy skirt or a simple dress all work well.

Neutral colours make mixing and matching simple. As a result, you can create several outfits from only a few garments.

Choose Breathable Cotton Knitwear

Next, add cotton knitwear. Soft cotton knits feel breathable and comfortable against the skin. This makes them ideal for travel days and warm destinations.

Many travellers prefer organic cotton knitwear because it feels light while still offering gentle warmth. Cotton fibres also regulate temperature naturally. Therefore, they remain comfortable throughout the day.

A cotton knit sweater vest is one of the most useful travel pieces. It layers beautifully over a shirt or dress and adds warmth without bulk.

Layer with Lightweight Knitwear

Layering is the secret to building a successful travel wardrobe lightweight knitwear system.

For example, a cotton knit sweater vest works well over a relaxed shirt during cooler mornings. Later in the day, it can be worn on its own.

Because lightweight knitwear adapts easily, one garment can serve several purposes. Consequently, you can pack fewer clothes while still having multiple outfit options.

Include a Versatile Layer

Weather often changes while travelling. Therefore, an extra lightweight layer makes a big difference.

A piece of organic cotton knitwear adds warmth without heaviness. At the same time, a handmade infinity snood can provide extra warmth around the neck when the temperature drops.

These small layers take very little space in a suitcase yet they make travel wardrobes far more adaptable.

Choose Pieces That Work All Day

Travel clothing should move easily from day to evening. Look for garments that feel relaxed yet still look considered.

For example:

  • a cotton knit sweater vest worn over a soft shirt
  • lightweight organic cotton knitwear paired with relaxed trousers
  • a simple dress layered with breathable cotton knitwear

These combinations create effortless outfits without overpacking.

Pack Accessories That Transform an Outfit

Accessories take very little space in a suitcase. However, they can change the look of an outfit completely.

A handmade infinity snood adds warmth, texture and colour. Meanwhile, simple, handmade jewellery can bring personality to even the most relaxed outfit.

Because accessories are small and lightweight, they are ideal for travel.

Pack Less, Wear More

The secret to a successful travel wardrobe is choosing fewer, better pieces. When garments layer well and work together, packing becomes far easier.

A travel wardrobe lightweight knitwear approach built around breathable cotton knitwear and versatile organic cotton knitwear keeps travel clothing practical and comfortable.

Your suitcase stays lighter. Most importantly, you can focus on enjoying the journey rather than worrying about what to wear.

How to Choose the Perfect Sun Hat for Your Face Shape – Your Complete Guide

sun hat face shape

Finding the perfect sun hat isn’t just about choosing a style you love – it’s about discovering a shape that flatters your features, feels effortless to wear, and offers the sun protection you need. With our beautiful UPF50+ certified styles from House of Ord – Cape Town and Emthunzini Hats, you can enjoy both confident style and exceptional UV protection.  This guide walks you through how to match the right hat to your face shape, so you can feel instantly at home in your new favourite accessory.

Why Your Face Shape Matters When Choosing a Hat

A well-chosen hat brings balance, proportion, and personality to your look. The right brim width, crown height, or silhouette can highlight cheekbones, soften jawlines, or add structure where you want it.

Whether you love a classic fedora shape, a sweeping wide brim, or one of our softer silhouettes, every style in our collection is fully packable – so you can choose purely by the shape that suits you best.  Understanding your face shape helps you pick a hat that feels “made for you.”

Creative DeZigns offer thoughtfully designed UPF50+ sun hats with styles suited to every face shape.

How to Identify Your Face Shape

Tie your hair back, stand in front of a mirror, and look for key proportions:

  • Which part is widest – forehead, cheekbones, or jawline?
  • Is your face more round or angular?
  • Is the length of your face noticeably longer than its width?

Most face-shape guides group people into four main categories: Diamond, Oblong, Round, and Square. The recommendations below are tailored for those – but the tips apply even if you fall somewhere in between.  With many unisex sun-hat styles across our collections, every face shape can find a UPF50+ hat that feels effortless wearable.

.

The Best Sun Hat Styles for Every Face Shape

Diamond Face Shape

sun hat face shape

Features:  Narrow forehead and chin with broader cheekbones.

Ideal Hat Styles:

Choose sun hats with a defined shape and a moderate to wide brim. Crowns with gentle structure – such as pinched crowns or classic fedora silhouettes – complement the angles of the face without overwhelming it.

Why it works:

These styles balance the cheekbones and bring softness to narrower areas of the face.

Try:

  • Ribbon-trimmed sun hats with a mid-height crown
  • Classic fedoras
  • Medium-brim packable sun hats

Oblong (Long) Face Shape

Features:  A face that’s longer than it is wide, with straighter lines from forehead to jaw.

Ideal Hat Styles:

Look for hats with wide or flared brims and lower crowns. These proportions visually shorten the face and add width where it’s needed.

Why it works:

A wide brim draws the eye outward, helping to balance length.

Try:

  • Wide-brim sun hats
  • Down-turned brims
  • Soft floppy hats
  • Low-crown styles

Avoid tall crowns or narrow brims – they can lengthen the appearance of the face.

Round Face Shape

sun hat face shape

Features: Soft, curved lines with width and length that are similar.

Ideal Hat Styles:

Structured hats bring gentle definition. Think fedoras, trilbies, and bucket hats with shape. A taller crown adds a little height, creating a more elongated look.

Why it works:

Angles balance curves. Structured crowns and defined brims introduce flattering lines.

 Try:

  • High-crown fedoras
  • Bucket hats with structured brims
  • Trilby styles
  • Angular, pinch-crown silhouettes

Avoid styles that mimic the roundness of your face (for example, very rounded crowns).

Square Face Shape

Features: Strong jawline, defined forehead, and angular proportions.

Ideal Hat Styles:

Choose hats with soft, sweeping brims or curved silhouettes to bring balance and fluidity.

Why it works:

Rounded lines soften angles, creating harmony with strong facial features.

Try:

  • Floppy wide-brim sun hats
  • Soft straw or raffia styles
  • Curved, flowing brims
  • Asymmetric brims (great for breaking up symmetry)

Avoid rigid shapes with sharp lines – they can emphasise the angularity rather than soften it.

Beyond Face Shape – Sun Protection Matters

Every one of our hats from House of Ord – Cape Town and Emthunzini Hats is UPF50+ certified, offering the highest level of sun protection. This means they block at least 97.5% of harmful UV rays, shielding:

  • Your face
  • Your scalp
  • Your ears
  • Your neck (especially with wide-brim options)

Unlike sunscreen, UPF50+ fabric doesn’t wear off or need reapplying -it protects you the moment you put it on.  UPF certification is only given after rigorous lab testing under controlled UV exposure, ensuring your hat truly shields you from both UVA and UVB.

Our hats offer:

  • Packable travel-ready designs
  • Breathable materials
  • Adjustable internal fitting
  • Lightweight comfort for all-day wear

.

Finding the Perfect Fit

A sun hat should feel secure yet comfortable.

  • Our sunhats include adjustable internal bands so you can refine the fit.
  • If you wear your hair up often, consider sizing slightly up.
  • A snug but not tight fit is ideal for breezy days.

For holidays or weekend adventures, choose packable hats that can fold into your bag without losing their shape.

Why Cotton is a Wardrobe Essential

Why Cotton is a Wardrobe Essential – And What Makes Our Cotton Ranges So Special

There’s something timeless about cotton clothing – light, breathable, and easy to wear wherever life takes you. From Just Cruizin’s muslin cotton shirts, with their naturally relaxed finish, to our GOTS-approved organic cotton knitwear from Nepal, every piece is made for comfort, movement, and effortless layering.

When it comes to breathable, versatile, and comfortable fabrics, cotton clothing continues to stand the test of time. Yet not all cotton is the same. The muslin light cotton used by our friends Just Cruizin South Africa, and the GOTS-approved organic cotton yarn used in our knitwear from Nepal, each offer their own story of comfort, ethics, and easy wear.

Together, they form part of our wider commitment to small-batch, natural-fibre clothing – designed for real life, travel, and effortless layering.

The Timeless Benefits of Cotton

Cotton has been valued for centuries for its natural comfort and durability. Here’s why it remains one of the most loved materials in everyday wardrobes:

  • Breathable & cool – Cotton allows airflow, helping regulate body temperature in both warm and mild climates.
  • Soft & gentle on skin – Its natural fibres feel smooth, reducing irritation and ideal for those with sensitive skin.
  • Moisture-wicking – Cotton absorbs and releases moisture easily, keeping you comfortable throughout the day.
  • Long-lasting – Quality cotton garments, like those from Just Cruizin South Africa, retain their feel and colour for years.
  • Easy to care for – Most cotton pieces can be machine washed and require minimal maintenance.

From easy-wear shirts and trousers to soft knitwear, cotton offers comfort without compromise – making it the perfect foundation everyday wear.

The Beauty of Just Cruizin’s Muslin Light Cotton

Our South African brand, Just Cruizin, has perfected the use of muslin cotton – a lightweight, loosely woven cotton known for its natural drape and breathable structure. Their muslin light cotton is carefully developed to combine softness with a relaxed, textured look, made for life on the move.

After weaving, the fabric is over-dyed and air-dried, allowing a natural crease to form without the use of harsh finishing processes. This gives each garment a lived-in, effortless character – perfect for travel wardrobes, hot climates, or anyone who prefers easy-going style.

By adjusting the weave tightness and thread count, Just Cruizin achieves the ideal balance between breathability and structure. The result is a fabric that feels weightless, keeps you cool, and requires almost no ironing – making it ideal for minimal-iron cotton shirts and light layering pieces.

The Benefits of Muslin Cotton for Everyday and Travel

  • Wrinkle-tolerant texture – The natural texture hides creases, making it perfect for packing and travel.
  • Lightweight breathability – Keeps you cool and comfortable even in warmer climates.
  • Soft, fluid drape – Moves easily with the body for relaxed, flattering wear.
  • Low maintenance – Quick to wash, air dry, and ready to wear again.
  • Colourfast and durable – Retains its depth of colour through many washes.
  • Effortless versatility – Equally suited for layering under knitwear or pairing with relaxed summer trousers.

Every Just Cruizin garment celebrates comfort and simplicity – designed for those who prefer natural fibres and timeless design.

From Muslin to Knit: Our Organic Cotton Range from Nepal

Beyond shirts, our cotton story continues with our GOTS-approved organic cotton knitwear, produced in Nepal by skilled artisans.

Each piece in this range is made using certified organic cotton yarn – grown and spun to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), ensuring environmentally and socially responsible production from field to final stitch.

Our Nepali partners work in small, local workshops to create soft, breathable knitwear in beautiful, understated designs – perfect for layering over Just Cruizin’s muslin cotton shirts. The yarn’s natural breathability and gentle texture mirror the same qualities we admire in muslin cotton: comfort, ease, and timeless simplicity.

Key benefits of our organic cotton knitwear from Nepal include:

  • Sustainably made using certified GOTS organic cotton.
  • Soft, breathable, and gentle for all-day wear.
  • Ideal for layering with shirts or lightweight tops.
  • All-season versatility – cool in summer, warm in cooler months.
  • Ethically produced in small, fair workplaces supporting local communities.

Together, our cotton clothing and organic cotton knits create an easy balance that moves beautifully between seasons, climates, and occasions.

A Cotton Story Rooted in Comfort, Quality, and Care

From Cape Town’s breezy muslin cotton clothing to Nepal’s soft organic cotton knitwear, our cotton collections share one simple principle – clothing should feel good to wear and do good where it’s made.

Both fabrics are chosen not only for their natural comfort and breathability, but also for their responsible origins. Whether you’re packing for a trip, layering for a change in season, or simply reaching for something that feels effortless, cotton clothing remains the natural choice.

Why We Use Polyamide in Our Stretch Layering Shirts

Why We Use Polyamide in Our Stretch Layering Shirts

Polyamide is a high-performance synthetic fibre first developed by DuPont in the 1930s. Originally famous for replacing silk in women’s stockings, it soon became valued for its strength, flexibility, and smooth feel against the skin.

It is also know as nylon.

At Creative Dezigns, we use polyamide blended with elastane in our stretch layering shirts.  This combination offers exceptional comfort, fit, and longevity.

These technical microfibres make our layering shirts breathable, quick-drying, and beautifully easy to wear.

The Polyamide and Elastane Blend

When polyamide is paired with elastane, the result is a soft yet resilient fabric that moves with you.

It stretches naturally without losing shape, holds colour beautifully, and feels silky smooth to the touch.

In addition, this blend is ideal for layering.  The fabric is lightweight and flexible, yet durable enough to maintain its form through frequent wear and washing.

Because of this, our shirts fit so comfortably while keeping a neat, refined look.

Polyamide Microfibre: Lightweight and Breathable

The polyamide microfibres we use are extremely fine – about half the diameter of silk fibres.  As a result, this fabric that feels barely there but performs exceptionally well.

Microfibre polyamide fabric is breathable and moisture-wicking, helping regulate body temperature and keeping you dry throughout the day.

Moreover, its smooth surface feels soft on the skin and resists creasing, making it perfect for layering under knitwear or wearing on its own.

We work with trusted fabric producers who use advanced spinning technology and adhere to the highest quality standards. This ensures our fabrics not only perform beautifully but also feel luxurious and long-lasting.

The Benefits of Polyamide-Elastane Shirts

Choosing polyamide and elastane microfibre shirts means enjoying:

  • Effortless care – quick to wash, fast to dry.
  • No ironing – they resist creasing naturally.
  • Shape retention – stretch with you, then bounce back perfectly.
  • Breathable comfort – keeps you cool and dry through every season.
  • Lightweight wear – easy to layer without bulk.
  • Soft touch – smooth against the skin, ideal for all-day comfort.
  • Long-lasting colour – resistant to fading from washing or sunlight.

FAQs

Is Polyamide safe for skin

Does polyamide shrink?

No. It retains its shape, especially when blended with elastane. Even after repeated washing, our layering shirts maintain their fit and finish.

Is polyamide good for layering?

Absolutely. Its breathability, stretch, and smooth texture make it perfect under jumpers, vests, or jackets – adding comfort without bulk.

In Summary

The polyamide and elastane microfibre used in our stretch layering shirts delivers everything we look for in everyday wear: comfort, breathability, and effortless care.

It is lightweight, long-lasting, and feels beautifully soft – making it the perfect foundation for layering all year round.
