Because cotton is a natural fibre that has the ability to control moisture, insulate, provide comfort and it is also hypoallergenic, light and soft to wear, and is also a very durable fabric. We have been wearing cotton clothing for thousands of years, and for good reason!
Moisture control
Cotton fabric is breathable and transmits moisture away from the body whilst also being absorbent removing liquid from the skin. According to experts, cotton absorbs around one fifth of its weight before it can be considered as damp.
Insulation
Cotton clothing protects against the heat in the summer and cold in the winter by providing thermal insulation as the cotton fabric traps air between the fabric fibres. The cotton fibres in clothing hold the fabric away from the skin, further allowing air to be trapped between the skin and fabric which helps with insulation and comfort.
Hypoallergenic
Cotton fabric is most often recommended for those with skin allergies because while synthetic fabrics are manufactured with chemicals, cotton is a natural fibre.
Comfort
Cotton clothing is soft and stretches easily making it a comfortable fabric to wear. Look Good, feel even better – cotton doesn’t cling because it can’t hold an electric charge.
Durability
Cotton has a high tensile strength making it strong durable and less likely to rip or tear. It is 30% stronger when wet, withstanding many washings in hot water. It is also easier to wash and care for than other fabrics.
Pilling
Pills are balls of tangled fibres that form when the fabric rubs against itself or another material. Once nylon, polyester and blends pill, its permanent. Cotton fabrics do not pill.
